Somers Handling holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification, issued by Interface NRM Ltd under UKAS Management Systems accreditation 4718. All three certifications cover the full scope of our work:
Design, Verification, Manufacture, Repair, Service and Installation of Lifting, Load Bearing, Jacking, Manipulation and Materials Handling Equipment.
First issued 12 August 2026. Certificate expiry 5 August 2029.

Independent certification that our quality management system meets the internationally-recognised standard for consistent design, manufacture and service delivery.
ISO 14001:2015
Independent certification of our environmental management system — covering waste, energy, emissions and continuous improvement across our Wednesbury works.

Independent certification of our occupational health and safety management system — the international successor to OHSAS 18001.
Industry membership
The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) is the leading UK trade association for the lifting equipment industry. Membership commits Somers to LEEA's technical standards, code of practice and continuing engineering competence — alongside participation in industry-wide safety and technical initiatives.
Our design work references LEEA 059 (the LEEA code of practice for lifting attachments and accessories) alongside the harmonised BS EN family.
Manufacturing origin
Made in Britain is the not-for-profit membership organisation for genuine UK manufacturers. Members meet defined criteria for UK-based manufacturing and agree to use the Made in Britain mark only on qualifying products.
Every piece of lifting equipment we supply is designed and built at our Wednesbury works — not assembled from imported components. UK steel, UK welders, UK engineering standards, UK service life.
