Somers began as Somers Handling, originally a division of Walter Somers, the forgemaster, incorporated in 1866.
First set up to design and develop innovative handling solutions for the forge’s lifting, rotating and transportation requirements, Somers rapidly built a reputation in the manufacturing industry for creating bespoke handling equipment. Made to last, original Somers equipment can be found at Somers Forge in Halesowen, UK, and the company remains a world leader in handling equipment for metal producing industries.
In more recent years, the company has diversified into the Rail Industry for the design and supply of Lifting Jacks, Bogie Handling Equipment and Depot Workshop Equipment.
Since forming in Bristol in 1985, Somers Handling, formally Rota Ltd, have been providing lifting and handling solutions to a wide range of industries including, water treatment, rail, construction, aerospace, steel service centres, engineering, food and high-tech foundries.
Somers Handling has built strong and lasting relationships with some of the world’s leading manufacturers. We’re trusted providers of lifting and handling equipment that keeps them running, whether it is for a one-off item or a turnkey project. From site survey through to proof load testing and commissioning, we maintain full control of the operation and ensure your best interests are always paramount.
